Sr. Research Business Analyst

Overview

Reporting to the Dev/Ops Program Director, the CNRI Senior Research Business Analyst (Sr. Research BA) supports and directs the implementation and service development of CNRI central research administration applications. The position works closely with project leaders, stakeholders, the App/Dev team and vendors. The Senior Research BA designs, delivers, and maintains high quality research administration business systems solutions by applying project management methodology and developing subject matter expertise in several business areas and their integration points with other departments and systems. The role leads technology projects and maps business requirements to configure or customize technical solutions offered by vendors to support research and innovation at Children\'s National Research Institute (CNRI). The Senior Research BA ensures that configured or customized solutions align with program needs and IT architectural standards, and leads the full life cycle of implementing an application within an agile process. The individual liaises with stakeholders to ensure user requirements are mapped, configured or customized, released and deployed to meet business needs. Other responsibilities include gathering requirements, developing workflows, building and executing test plans, performing quality reviews, managing operations and system upgradeds, developing training materials, and assisting in triaging and troubleshooting operational issues. Strong analytical ability and expertise in both business and configuration knowledge, as well as project leadership, are required.

Base pay range

$73,070.40/yr - $121,804.80/yr

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and service development of CNRI central research administration applications.
• Work with project leaders, stakeholders, the App/Dev team and vendors to design, deliver, and maintain business systems solutions.
• Map business requirements to configure or customize technical solutions in support of research and innovation.
• Ensure solutions align with program needs and IT architectural standards; participate in agile implementation processes.
• Gather requirements, develop workflows, create and execute test plans, and perform quality reviews.
• Manage operations and system upgrades; develop training materials and assist in troubleshooting issues.
• Collaborate with internal partners to ensure user requirements are properly mapped and deployed.

Education

• Minimum Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (Required).
• Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field (Preferred).

Work Experience

• Minimum Work Experience

• 3 years of experience as a business analyst or requirements analyst (Required).
• IT-related experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
• 2 years of expertise in academic research administration software, workflows and/or processes (Preferred).

Skills and Knowledge

• Experience leading large and/or complex engagements with diverse stakeholders.
• Advanced knowledge of information system development lifecycle methodologies to support software integration in a service-oriented architecture.
• Experience in business analysis and/or application development/support in an academic research or healthcare environment.
• Ability to design wireframes/storyboards, document processes, gather requirements, perform impact analysis, and manage technological change.
• Development of test scenarios and test cases; participate in testing activities.
• Working knowledge of SQL.
• Ability to evaluate vendor software applications and coordinate multiple projects with competing deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interaction at all organizational levels.

Licenses and Certifications

• Project Management (PMP) - Preferred.

Functional Accountabilities

• RCR and Regulatory: Ensure compliance with standards for the responsible conduct of research; appropriate use of research funds and resources; compliance with IT policies.
