Skilled Diesel Mechanic

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the scheduling of maintenance and repair tasks for diesel vehicles, prioritizing work to reduce downtime and enhance fleet availability.
• Conduct diagnostic assessments and troubleshoot issues related to diesel engines, drivetrain systems, and associated components to propose effective repair solutions.
• Perform complex repairs and maintenance duties, including engine overhauls, transmission repairs, and hydraulic system troubleshooting.
• Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and company policies, fostering a culture of safety awareness among team members.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repair activities, tracking parts usage, labor hours, and equipment history through digital documentation procedures.
• Stay updated on industry innovations and best practices in diesel engine maintenance and share insights with the team as necessary.
• Install and repair major diesel engine components including injectors, pistons, clutches, and transmissions.
• Undertake additional responsibilities as directed by management to support the maintenance department's overall operation.

Qualifications:

• Technical or vocational training in diesel mechanics or a related field is preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience as a heavy diesel mechanic.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment, including computerized diagnostic software (preferably Cummins Insite and Mack Tech Tool).
• Strong knowledge of diesel engine components and the ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to focus on details and efficiently manage tasks in a busy environment.
• Capable of working independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required; a CDL is preferred.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
