HDR is currently seeking a Site Civil Engineer for our Building Engineering Services Business Group located in Missouri in either our Kansas City or St. Louis office. Our team is an integrated facility and infrastructure design team consisting of core services of Mechanical, Electrical, Structural and Site Civil Engineering. This person will be part of an integrated team responsible for the design of facilities related sites in support of a variety of markets including Healthcare, Water/Wastewater, Municipal, Industrial, Federal and Mission Critical buildings and infrastructure. They will be expected to coordinate and work closely with a multidiscipline design team throughout the entire life cycle of projects from planning stages, through the development of construction documents, and construction administration. Experience in site development and the design of building related site civil (grading, utilities, storm drainage, stormwater management, and erosion control) is preferred. This individual should be self-motivated, collaborative and possess strong leadership skills with an initiative to deliver high quality, technically sound civil site designs.

Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Site Civil Engineer we'll count on you to:

• Design and plan production for general civil on a wide variety of projects, including site layouts, grading and drainage, paving, site utilities, and associated civil engineering activities
• Perform quantity calculations
• Prepare specifications and contract documents
• Interface with Jurisdictional Authorities conduct permitting reviews
• Perform complex assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection and modification of standard engineering techniques and procedures
• Make decisions on significant design and engineering procedures as needed
• Function as Project Manager or Project Engineer as needed
• Oversee work of other professionals and technicians as needed
• Prepare/Review civil engineering scope of work and budgets/estimates for proposals
• Establish client relations and be involved with marketing, contractual, design and production meetings
• Track financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust work effort with team to ensure that work is completed within parameters of agreed-to schedule
• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong operating knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D
• Proficiency in modeling software such as Hydraflow Storm Sewers, Hydraflow Hydrographs, HydroCAD, Bentley StormCAD or similar software
• Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm desired
• Preference given to local candidates
• Previous project management experience
• 4 years of civil engineering experience across the full spectrum of site civil design including site selection, due diligence, master planning, site design; including demolition plans, grading and drainage design, utility design, and civil details
• BS degree in Civil Engineering

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree
• Previous experience in general civil engineering
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Demonstrated leadership and communication skills
• Aptitude and demonstrated hands-on experience with computer applications in Civil Engineering such as InRoads, Siteworks, Hecras, etc
• Proficient with Microsoft Office
• Good verbal and written communication skills
