Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in our Research and Development (R&D) team, you will work at the intersection of advanced medical technology and work on patient impacting technology. You will need to live within commuting distance to our Portage, Michigan office. You will need to be in the office 4 days a week (Monday-Thursday) and can work from home on other days.
What You Will Do
- Design, develop, and verify components and modules for medical devices under minimal supervision.
- Translate design inputs into engineering specifications and subsystem-level designs.
- Prototype and analyze design solutions to validate concepts and performance.
- Identify and resolve complex technical challenges using data-driven analysis, resulting in improved processes and outcomes.
- Create and maintain engineering documentation, including Design History Files, in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Ensure alignment with quality management systems and applicable regulations.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, and Marketing teams to ensure project success.
- Prioritize tasks and manage workload independently to meet project milestones.
What You Will Need
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Biomedical, or related field).
- Minimum 2 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Proficiency in creating engineering drawings and models using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools.
- Working knowledge of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the medical device industry or regulated environments.
- Familiarity with design controls, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
- Understanding of clinical procedures and product use.
- Experience applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and using Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) tools.
