Senior, Software Engineer

We are seeking an enthusiastic Senior Manager of Software Engineering specializing in embedded Linux systems to develop and maintain Vizio’s core operating structure. The Senior Manager will be responsible for translating visions into actionable plans, leading, communicating, tracking progress, and mentoring the engineering team to implement these visions successfully. This role reports to the Senior Director, Software Engineering and will have multiple Engineering Managers as direct reports. We are a close-knit team focused on challenging problems that make a difference in our business. Minimal travel (twice a year) is expected. We work in a collaborative environment, primarily based in our Dallas, TX office, five days a week.

What you'll do...

Lead the development of embedded Linux systems, guide the engineering team, and ensure high-quality software delivery. Collaborate across teams, estimate tasks, conduct code reviews, and participate in planning and API/SDK design.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 6+ years in front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, TypeScript, JavaScript frameworks like Angular or ReactJS).
• Strong knowledge of web communications protocols (HTTP, REST, WebSocket, IPC).
• Deep understanding of streaming technologies and protocols.
• Experience with video ad insertion technologies (SSAI, DAI) and embedded TV software development.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in a related field plus 1 year of experience, or 5+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Experience with inclusive digital experiences, accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2 AA), assistive technologies, and integrating accessibility into products.

Location & Compensation:

14901 Quorum Dr, Dallas, TX , USA. Salary range: $90,000 - $180,000 annually, with performance bonuses and additional benefits including health coverage, 401(k), stock options, paid time off, and more.
