Senior Electrical Engineer Power & Utilities

Locations: Fort Worth, TX | Denver, CO | Cary, NC | Chicago, IL (Hybrid role: in-office 2 days per week + project-based travel up to 50%) We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer (Power/Utilities) to play a key role in delivering innovative energy solutions for our clients. This role will give you the opportunity to engage directly with clients, evaluate their energy needs, develop concept-level plans, and carry projects through detailed design to execution. Our team provides true end-to-end lifecycle services across the energy sectorincluding exploration, development, operations, and repowering/retirement. • Lead the design and delivery of utility-scale power and energy projects, from concept through detailed engineering.
• Serve as a technical advisor to clients, providing consulting expertise, due diligence, and Owner's Engineer support.
• Collaborate with client account managers and project teams to develop strategies, proposals, and project execution plans.
• Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering technical growth within the team.
• Engage in business development efforts by identifying and pursuing new project opportunities.
• Apply knowledge of emerging technologies to provide innovative, value-driven solutions.
• Travel to client sites as required (typically <50%).

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering, or related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in electrical design engineering and/or consulting, with a focus on utilities and power.
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license (any U.S. state) and ability to obtain licensure in additional states.
• Proven ability to engage with clients, develop relationships, and deliver high-value engineering solutions.
• Strong experience in project design (not just construction oversight or project management).
• Demonstrated background in utility-scale power generation, transmission, and distribution projects.
• Strong communication skills, including technical writing and client presentations.
• Commitment to mentoring junior staff and contributing to a culture of technical excellence.

• Power distribution systems & microgrids
• Power generation projects >10MW
• HV/MV substations
• Renewable energy projects (wind, solar, hydro, geothermal)
• Energy storage systems
• Power system modeling (SKM, ETAP, or similar)
• Protection & control, SCADA, power system automation
• Utility master planning, decarbonization, or climate response planning
• Cogeneration/CHP systems
• Thermal utility plants and distribution (steam, hot water, chilled water)
