Job Description:

We are looking for a Senior Composite Manufacturing Engineer to join our cutting-edge Advanced Manufacturing Facility (AMF) in Huntsville, AL . This facility focuses on the fabrication and assembly of composite rocket motor hardware.

The Senior Composite Manufacturing Engineer will possess deep knowledge in composite engineering and project management, overseeing complex projects with a collaborative approach. This role is vital for improving processes, ensuring quality, and achieving departmental goals.

Essential Functions:

• Lead process improvements using Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers.
• Facilitate the transition of programs from other L3Harris facilities to Huntsville.
• Oversee the qualification of new equipment.
• Develop and maintain fabrication processes for advanced composite components.
• Create detailed work procedures and documentation adhering to quality, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Support shop floor operations for composite manufacturing processes.
• Provide technical guidance and training to team members across various departments.
• Analyze engineering drawings for robust part and tooling design.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure process accuracy and quality standards.
• Investigate and address nonconforming hardware, implementing corrective actions.
• Present manufacturing processes at customer reviews and represent process changes at meetings.
• Occasional travel (less than 5%) may be required; weekend and off-shift work may be needed to meet manufacturing needs.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree with 9+ years of relevant composite engineering experience, or a Graduate Degree with 7+ years. Alternatively, 13+ years of relevant experience without a degree.
• Active US Secret Security Clearance.

Preferred Additional Skills:

• Hands-on experience with composite materials and manufacturing techniques.
• Ability to write equipment specifications.
• Strong understanding of GD&T for part validation.
• Proficiency with CAD modeling.
• Knowledge of surface preparation for bonding materials.
• Experience in precision assembly of aerospace products.
• Familiarity with operation of relevant manufacturing equipment such as robots, presses, and CNC machines.
• Deep understanding of composite materials properties.
• Excellent cross-functional communication and problem-solving skills.
• Adaptability to a fast-paced and changing work environment.
