Centra Healthcare Solutions is seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher (SPED) that is certified in the state of practice to work in a school setting. This is a contract, full time position.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

• Complete required facility orientation.
• Ensure health, safety & welfare of individuals.
• Conduct formal and informal assessments of educational programs and behavior interventions.
• Supervise Teacher’s Assistants/Aides and participate in the implementation of educational programs and behavior interventions.
• Implement and adhere to IEP/Student Program.
• Supervise and implement completion of program/student documentation.
• Supervise and delegate responsibilities to Teacher’s Assistants/Aides.
• Complete and maintain training requirements.
• Complete required program documentation/certifications (e.g. Employee Medicals, PPD, CPR, etc. as required).
• Interact/communicate with parents, college interns, professionals, and other interested visitors.
• Punctuality and regular attendance is expected.
• Maintain participant/family confidentiality.
• Commitment to company values and adherence to policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors and/or senior management.

Requirements include:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education along with an NYS certification in at least one of the following areas: Nursery – Grade 6 General Education, Early Childhood (B-2) General Education, Childhood Education (Grades 1-6), Special Education (all grades), Students w/ Disabilities (B-2), Students w/ Disabilities (1-6), or Pre-K – Grade 6 General Education
• Experience with Autism and Applied Behavior Analysis preferred.
• Ability to run.
• Ability to safely assist lifting individuals of various weights & 20 lb items.
• Clearance through state mandated Background/Fingerprint Check(s).
• Cannot have worked with the DOE within 1 year

DO NOT SUBMIT unless the candidate has direct, hands-on experience with non-verbal students, severe cognitive delays, frequent behavioral challenges (aggression, elopement, self-injury), and total assistance needs (feeding, toileting, mobility).

• This is not suitable for candidates who’ve only worked with verbal or moderately delayed students.
