Mercy Hospital's Cardiovascular Surgery Unit (CVU) provides care to post-open heart surgery patients. With their exceptional patient care, this unit has low readmission rates, low falls, and high patient satisfaction ratings. The CVU is an inclusive unit known for their integrity, empathy, and longevity. The opportunities here are endless with hands-on training days, check-ins with leadership, mentoring, and community activities.

A caregiver in this position works days/evenings/nights/weekends from 7:00AM – 7:00PM or 7:00PM – 7:00AM.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Provide direct nursing care.

Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.

Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.

Administer prescribed medications and treatments.

Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.

Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.

Educate patients and their families.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.

Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

One-year of current acute care RN experience. Will consider military RN experience.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN).
