OVERVIEW:
This project aims to discover principles underlying the coordination of activity across cortical regions and between cortical and subcortical structures, and to develop new tools that enable electrophysiology and optogenetics simultaneously.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Studies of multi-region neuronal activity including surgical preparations, data collection, data analysis, and paper preparation.
- 5% surgical preparations including implantation of head plates, craniotomies
- 20% data collection including large scale recording with widefield imaging and with neuropixels electrode arrays
- 20% data analysis with advanced methods such as multiple regression, fourier domain algorithms, modern statistical approaches
- 5% paper preparation including writing text, making figures, editing
- Efforts to develop new tools for large scale electrophysiology and optogenetics including surgical preparations, data collection, and data analysis.
- 5% genetic engineering including transgenic breeding and viral injections
- 5% surgical preparations including implantation of headplates, craniotomies
- 20% data collection including opto probe recordings as well as histological preparations such as brain clearing and immunohistochemistry
- 20% data analysis including stimulation triggered averaging, cross correlograms, and other relevant neuroscientific analysis approaches
REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree in a Neuroscience, biology, psychology, computer science, engineering, or related fields and four years of with electrophysiological brain recording including experience working with Mice Brains.
Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Expert-level large-scale electrophysiological recording skill with Neuropixels probes in head-fixed mice, including multiple probe versions such as NeuropixelsOpto
- Widefield calcium imaging skill including data acquisition, transgenic approaches, mouse breeding and genotyping
- Surgical techniques for mice including craniotomies and skull implants
- Data preprocessing expertise for electrophysiology (spike sorting) and calcium imaging (SVD)
- Data analysis methods for systems neuroscience including multiple regression and fourier domain techniques
- Mouse handling and behavioral training expertise
DESIRED:
- Methods for large-scale data analysis
- Broad expertise in the field of neuroscience
- Expertise in relevant techniques such as tissue preparation, histology, viral tracing, etc.
Compensation and Benefits:
Pay Range Minimum: $72,288.00 annual
Pay Range Maximum: $96,000.00 annual
