GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Pulmonary Function Respiratory Therapist conducts essential pulmonary diagnostic tests, including but not limited to pulmonary function assessments, arterial blood gas sampling, oximetry, and FeNo testing. A key aspect of this role involves coordinating and addressing the Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) needs of clinic patients. This position operates independently within the CVPH Pulmonary clinic under the supervision of a team of pulmonary clinic physicians.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program, recognized by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care or the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs is mandatory.
- Must be credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- New York State license as a Registered Respiratory Therapist is required or certification as a Registry Eligible Certified Respiratory Technician, with a commitment to obtain NYS licensure within one year of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.
- In preference, NBRC certification as a Certified Pulmonary Technologist is desired.
- Experience in home care and durable medical equipment processes is advantageous.
This role also includes the ability to provide tailored care to patients, taking into consideration their individual needs and behaviors appropriate for their age.
