This position will lead program innovation to ensure that (a) experiential learning for Foster School and UW students continues to accelerate skills and knowledge development, (b) programs that serve businesses in under-served communities continue to evolve by incorporating new cutting-edge techniques and business strategies, and (c) strengthen and maintain partnership key stakeholders to ensure program sustainability. This position works closely with the Director of Washington State Programs to plan, execute and manage student consulting projects, faculty-led professional development education, and marketing/communications.

The Consulting and Business Development Center is the nation's largest university-based and business-school based center focused on advancing insights about and fostering progress for socially and economically disadvantaged businesses. This position is responsible for leading and innovating programs that will expand that national leadership role.

The Center's core programs have undergraduate, and MBA students work on consulting projects with small businesses in diverse, under-served communities and with other small businesses and non-profit organizations in Washington State.

This position will oversee the daily program management of these projects representing the center with a wide variety of students, faculty, business owners, nonprofit organizations, CEO's and civic leaders. This is a detail-oriented position and requires someone capable of multi-tasking and the ability to evaluate program effectiveness and continually improve program design and delivery. They must be able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of individuals.

The Consulting and Business Development Center accelerates student careers and grows businesses in underserved communities. The Center offers programs for undergraduate and MBA students that engage them in solving complex, real-world business challenges.

Responsibilities:

I. Implement projects and programs for the Center as managed by the Director of Washington State Programs. These will include the Liberty Project, Business Technology Consulting Program, Tribal Gaming and Hospitality Management Program, Tribal Enterprise Financial Management Program

a. Execute day-to-day operations of the projects and programs for the Center.

b. Implement program directives and deliverables as provided by the Director of WA State Programs.

c. Work with faculty to schedule course presentations, seminars, and workshops.

d. Perform contract deliverables for the Liberty Project, including Task 5 of the City of Seattle contracts

e. Assist in the pre & post evaluation of the Center's programs

II. Recruit students, volunteers, and small business participants for the programs

a. Recruit students to participate in the center programs

b. Recruit and manage volunteers to serve as mentors/advisors for student teams and as judges for the Center's competitions

c. Secure sufficient small business and nonprofit participation in each program to ensure that we meet and exceed donor requirements and to ensure financial self-sufficiency for each program

d. Expand partnerships with Rotary Club of Seattle, HPE advisors, alumni, Advisory Board members and other key stakeholders to continue to improve the quality and grow the impact of the Center's programs

III. Develop and administer program budgets

IV. Help coordinate fundraising activities for the Center

a. Assist the Director of Programs and Director of WA State Programs in fundraising and donor stewardship

b. Secure financial sponsors for programs and the Center's Impact Awards

c. Produce reports for donors

d. Deliver presentations about the center and its programs to business owners, CEO, nonprofit executives, civic leaders and elected officials

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in business, communications, education, economics, ethnic studies or similar or 5 years' experience in a related field.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

Additional Requirements:

  • The person hired for this position must have demonstrated experience working in multicultural communities and with individuals from racial and ethnic diverse backgrounds in a domestic US context.

  • They will have proven at least two years of experience in managing programs and projects and experience in marketing and promoting programs.

  • The candidate needs strong verbal and written skills and will have demonstrated ability to execute and manage a wide range of projects.

  • The candidate needs the ability to learn new skills and be proficient with MS office software.

  • This position also requires travel throughout Washington and limited travel outside of Washington which includes some overnight trips.

Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

Pay Range Minimum:

$67,500.00 annual

Pay Range Maximum:

$100,824.00 annual
