Program Manager Privacy and Regulatory Compliance

Program Manager

General Motors is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Program Manager to lead enterprise-wide privacy and regulatory compliance initiatives. This role is critical to measuring and managing GM's ongoing compliance with federal, state and sectoral privacy and regulatory compliance requirements and regulations. The Program Manager will serve as a key operational partner to the legal, software and services, security, data governance, and engineering teamstranslating legal requirements into scalable, auditable, and sustainable processes that support innovation at GM and embed accountability into GM's development processes.

What You'll Do

• Monitor and assess GM's compliance with regulatory obligations, and evolving state and federal privacy laws and regulations.
• Lead and maintain GM's US privacy requirements register.
• Map requirements to accountable owners, controls, and auditable evidence.
• Produce recurring metrics and status updates.
• Act as a subject matter expert on evidence fitness for purpose and quality standards, guiding stakeholders in translating requirements into repeatable processes and controls designed to be measured and managed.
• Identify gaps and recommend scalable process, control, and automation improvements.
• Support internal and external audit and inquiry response.
• Facilitate training and awareness campaigns to promote a culture of privacy and data stewardship across GM.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

• Experience in privacy, compliance, or regulatory program management, preferably in a legal environment.
• Solid understanding of U.S. privacy laws, including FTC enforcement practices and state-level legislation.
• Strong project management skills with experience leading cross-functional initiatives.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

• Experience working under or implementing consent orders.
• Certifications such as CIPP/US, CIPM, or PMP.
• Familiarity with connected devices and software or hardware development.
• Experience in automotive, mobility, or regulated industries.
