Position Description
The UC San Diego Labor Center is seeking a dedicated and motivated candidate to serve as the Program Coordinator/Organizer for our San Diego office and worker center project. This position supports programmatic and outreach efforts from the San Diego office by coordinating outreach events, implementing programs, and building strong organizational relationships within the community and with labor organizations. Under the direction of the Center's Executive Director, the incumbent will identify community needs and help develop and deliver innovative programs that support worker interests and organizational goals; include planning, execution, and evaluation of programs and initiatives that support workers and the community; organize, promote, and facilitate outreach events educating workers about their rights, resources, and available services; collaborate with community partners to enhance event effectiveness and reach; and maintain accurate records of activities and participation, preparing reports for internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, develop and maintain positive working relationships with community organizations, labor unions, and key stakeholders, engage with workers and community members to mobilize support for labor rights and related social justice issues, and implement organizing strategies that empower workers and promote collective action.

The role supports education and research as a matter of social justice and requires broad collaboration among faculty, staff, students and community partners. Responsibilities include delivering standardized educational programs, evaluating program content and delivery, identifying underrepresented constituencies, and participating in recruitment and outreach activities for the assigned program.
Responsibilities
- Support planning, execution, and evaluation of programs and initiatives that support workers and the community.
- Organize, promote, and facilitate outreach events to educate workers about rights, resources, and available services.
- Collaborate with community partners to enhance event effectiveness and reach; maintain accurate records of activities; prepare reports for stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations, labor unions, and key stakeholders; engage workers and community members to mobilize support for labor rights and social justice.
- Implement organizing strategies that empower workers and promote collective action.
- Use professional community educational program concepts to deliver and enhance educational programs and volunteer initiatives.
- Analyze program content and delivery needs to determine effectiveness and identify underrepresented constituencies.
- Participate in recruitment and outreach activities for the assigned program.
Qualifications
- Working knowledge of departmental and organizational policies and procedures; knowledge of educational program content and objectives.
- Strong knowledge of labor rights, social justice issues, and community organizing principles.
- Experience delivering community educational programs and coordinating outreach events.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team; strong organizational and time management skills.
- Good reading, verbal and written communication skills, and strong presentation abilities; excellent interpersonal skills with diverse communities.
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint; ability to use technology and social media for outreach and engagement.
- Knowledge of needs assessment and ability to analyze how programs meet business and community needs.
- Capacity to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel; ability to work evenings, weekends, and flexible schedules as needed; overtime may be required.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
- Job offer is contingent upon satisfactory clearance based on background check results.
Pay Transparency Act: Annual Full Pay Range: $51,000 - $84,800 (prorated if appointment percentage < 100%). Hourly Equivalent: $24.43 - $40.61. Compensation factors include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other needs. The Hiring Pay Scale references the budgeted salary or hourly range for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what is paid due to internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining (where applicable).
