Principal Support Engineer - Ext

Position Responsibilities:

• Provide technical support to various Linux services that focus on AWS Compute Technologies such as EC2 Core/Linux, Elastic Block Store (EBS), LightSail, ElastiCache, Outposts, Systems Manager and many other services that enable customers to run their workloads on AWS.
• Develop subject matter expertise in one or more areas of the above services.
• Collaborate with internal teams to provide the required support services to AWS customers.
• Interact with customers that reach out to AWS via email or chat or phone.
• Work on team functions and projects and continually work on improving operational efficiency.
• Responsible for solving customer's cases through advanced troubleshooting techniques, providing tailored solutions and working with them to dive deep into the root cause of an issue.
• Drive initiatives that improve support-related processes and our customers' experience.
• Leverage customer support experience to provide feedback to internal AWS teams on how to improve our services, and work on critical, highly complex customer problems that may span multiple AWS services.
• Continuously learn groundbreaking technologies, and develop new technical skills and other professional competencies.
• Act as interviewer in hiring processes, and coach/mentor new team members.

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Networking, Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field and six years of progressive post baccalaureate experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
• Must have six years of experience in the following skill(s): 1) systems administration with Linux (including experience with Ubuntu, CentOS, and RedHat) or Microsoft Windows Server and associated technologies experience (including with Active Directory and Exchange); 2) experience with system administration and troubleshooting any operating system (such as Linux, Windows, or related); 3) with networking (including experience with HTTP/s, TCP/IP, DNS, OSI model, routing, switching, firewalls, LAN/WAN, traceroute, iperf, dig, or CURL); 4) experience with OS administration (boot process and filesystems) and troubleshooting disk space issues, booting issues, and OS logs; and 5) experience with security in Linux (filesystem permissions).
• Up to 25% domestic and/or international travel to perform role responsibilities may be required.
