Press Brake Operator

The Press Brake Operator will be responsible for setting up and operating the brake press to bend, notch, punch, or straighten metal plates or sheet metal according to blueprint or sketch specifications to support production.

Responsibilities

• Perform set-ups and die changes as required by job.
• Work with steel ranging from 1.5mm to 30mm thick.
• Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to produce various configurations.
• Measure and verify dimensions of workpieces using precise measuring instruments.
• Check products for correct shape, dimension, and other specifications.
• Conduct quality inspections for all parts and components to ensure correct sizes, flatness, and tolerances.
• Complete work orders required for shift in a timely manner, following the correct order schedule.
• Grind laps or burrs from edges of workpieces as needed.
• Ensure packaging is set up as specified, if required.
• Document completed work accurately.
• Clean and lubricate equipment as necessary.
• Follow strict quality control procedures and good housekeeping practices.
• Comply with all operational procedures and policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Quality, and Environment programs.

Essential Skills

• Experience with press brake operations and machine setups.
• Ability to interpret blueprints and schematics.
• Proficiency in using tape measures, calipers, and hand tools.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with different machines, brands, and tonnage is a plus.
• Capability to work across different shifts as required.

Work Environment

The work environment is clean, well-lit, and organized with structured processes. Shifts are available on a Monday through Friday schedule with potential Saturday shifts. Shift hours include 1st shift (7am 3:30pm), 2nd shift (3:30pm 12am), and 3rd shift (11pm 7am), with a rare six-day workweek.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lexington, North Carolina.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.43 - $21.71/hr.
