ENCOMPASS HEALTH PM&R MEDICAL DIRECTOR DESCRIPTION

The Medical Director oversees the quality and integrity of the hospital's rehabilitation services, plays a key role in optimizing clinical care, and provides direct patient care.

Partner with the CEO to position the hospital as the preferred inpatient rehabilitation facility in the area. Improve patient satisfaction rankings to exceed the Encompass Health average and achieve a top 10 clinical ranking.

Build relationships with local specialists to promote awareness of inpatient rehabilitation benefits and criteria. The Medical Director's role in educating clinicians and building confidence in the hospital's services is vital for patient access and hospital success.

Establish a visible presence within the hospital as an accessible and approachable leader among staff, patients, and families. Compensation includes a generous administrative stipend.

The PM&R Physician will develop a private practice, managing a caseload of complex inpatient rehabilitation patients and outpatient cases if desired. The physician will set up a relationship with an independent billing company, retaining 100% of billing and collections. Encompass Health's busy hospitals have dedicated outreach teams to identify suitable inpatient rehabilitation candidates from surrounding areas.

QUALIFICATIONS

• MD or DO with a medical license or willingness to obtain one in Alabama
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or related specialty
• Patient-centered approach and commitment to excellence
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Hospital-based physiatry experience preferred
