The primary role of the Phlebotomist I is to assist with various assigned duties, troubleshoot issues, provide training, and make workflow recommendations.

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data.
• Update patient information and decontaminate work areas.
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles.
• Fully understand and execute physicians' orders.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
• Ensure all test requisitions or computer labels are 100% accurate.
• Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperatures.
• Follow procedures to maintain the integrity of specimens during transport.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department trainings.
• Handle telephone inquiries and read laboratory results.

• 1-2 years of recent phlebotomy experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab, outpatient, or hospital setting.
• Experience with blood draws on all age groups from pediatric to geriatric, including hard sticks.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Phlebotomy certification.

• High School Diploma or GED.

This position involves working at two locations: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM at 805 Wade Hampton Blvd, Greer, SC, and Tuesday and Thursday from 8 AM to 5 PM in Greenville, SC. The role requires the ability to work alone and handle hard stick patients, with an emphasis on maintaining the integrity of specimens during collection and transport.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Greenville, South Carolina.

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
