Job Summary

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will be vital in the preparation of medications under the guidance of a pharmacist. Your tasks will include:

• Measuring, mixing, counting out, labeling, and recording medications accurately according to prescription orders.
• In retail and community pharmacy settings, assisting pharmacists in preparing and dispensing prescriptions and interacting with customers.
• Maintaining proper storage, security, and operational conditions for drugs and equipment.
• Controlling inventory levels to ensure adequate supplies are available.
• Assisting with billing functions and contributing to departmental quality assurance efforts.
• Fostering a safe working environment compliant with state laws and regulations.

In medical center or institutional settings, responsibilities include unit dose dispensing, IV admixtures, and compounding. You will work closely with a registered pharmacist to provide pharmaceutical care and support in adhering to established regulations and practices.

The Pharmacy Technician position varies by location and duties may overlap between retail and inpatient responsibilities.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must be a High School graduate or possess a General Education Diploma (GED). Based on state regulations, qualifications include:

• National certification through a recognized body such as the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
• Registration as a Pharmacy Technician or Technician in Training in North Dakota if applying from that state.
