Position Summary

As a Patient Care Technician, you will provide crucial support in patient care, focusing on hygiene, nutrition, ambulation, elimination, and safety as directed by the Charge Nurse, following established guidelines. Your responsibilities will include:

• Documenting patient care accurately in their records based on your skill level.
• Completing personal belongings documentation, obtaining height, weight, and vital signs upon admission.
• Orienting new residents to the facility, ensuring proper identification, and preparing their admission kits.
• Promptly responding to call lights and resident needs.
• Conducting rounds and regularly repositioning residents to ensure their comfort and safety.
• Taking and accurately reporting vital signs and weights to the Charge Nurse.
• Applying necessary slings, splints, braces, and specialty care items as per medical orders.
• Measuring and recording intake and output accurately, communicating this information to the Charge Nurse during shift changes.
• Assisting in treatments as directed by the Charge Nurse, such as Sitz baths and moist packs.
• Maintaining supplies and equipment on the unit and promptly notifying the Charge Nurse of additional needs.
• Completing all duties as a Certified Nurse Assistant, striving for continuous education and adapting to new responsibilities.
• Building effective working relationships with team members, maintaining discretion with confidential information.
• Providing detailed reports to the Charge Nurse at the end of each shift and participating in walking rounds with staff during shift changes.
• Being flexible with additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred, yet not mandatory.
• Active Certified Nurse Assistant certification in your working state.
• CPR certification required or willingness to obtain within six months of employment.
• Prior experience in long-term care is preferred.
• Excellent verbal communication skills to interact with patients, visitors, and colleagues.
• Strong time management skills and the ability to organize your daily tasks effectively.
• Physical stamina for standing and walking for extended periods.
• Capability to lift heavy objects safely and assist when necessary.
• Ability to transfer patients weighing 200+ lbs using proper techniques.
• Skill in pushing and pulling equipment over 40 lbs with the appropriate methods and support.
• Good manual dexterity and coordination for working effectively with patients and equipment.
• Ability to perform necessary documentation in writing or through recording.
• Visual acuity to distinguish colors.

Pay Range: $16.08 - $25.24 per hour
