The Work You Will Do:
This position maintains current knowledge of Florida Statutes and board rules governing the practice of certified public accounting to ensure accurate processing of all Certified Public Accounting licensure and examination applications to include examination, licensure reactivations, renewals, original licensure, licensure by endorsement, firm applications, temporary permits, licensure maintenance, and CPE sponsor and courses.
Review all applications within 90 days to determine eligibility for examination and licensure. Research course content to determine acceptability and appropriate category for course eligibility. Review curriculum, transcripts, degrees and other educational materials of applicants having received education and training in foreign countries in order to determine applicant eligibility for licensure. Apply rules to determine approval of application. Process applications for board review and final action at regularly scheduled board meetings.
Composes and authorizes preparation of correspondence regarding licensure and regulation of professionals. Provides application status updates, provides guidance to applicants seeking cure of application deficiencies, including processing requests for petitions, and responds to general public inquiries regarding examination and licensure requirements; includes communicating either verbally or in writing. Responds to complaints and inquiries to the public, potential licensees and licensees, and provides information. Provides applicants personal guidance regarding certification and licensure, discipline and other regulatory functions.
Serves as Tier-N resource to resolve inquiries from applicants, internal department staff and external inquiries.
Recommend and review improvements in procedures. Utilizes email, telephone, written correspondence, database, website to communicate up to date and accurate information regarding Certified Public Accounting.
Coordinates and attends Certified Public Accounting committee meetings to include reviewing applications, collecting and organizing materials for agenda, and preparing agenda for meeting. Provide meeting materials to members and interested parties in accordance with division policy and procedures. Provides committee with follow up information to include researching committee's inquiries or education institutions, course content, service providers, and statistical data. Posts meeting notice in Florida Administrative Register in accordance with established procedures. Prepares meeting minutes for chairperson's signature and ensure signed minutes are placed on agenda for ratification by the Board of Accountancy at regularly scheduled board meeting.
Utilizes department software to maintain application processing. Retrieve CPA exam scores from national database and update licensing system as required, code application updates according to department guidelines for tracking purposes, scan supplemental information to imaging system on a daily basis, update contact history on all customer interactions.
Analyzes applications for financial transactions to determine appropriate processing fees. Process required documentation for refund.
Serves as inter office support staff as needed to include but not limited to answer phones, attend technology meetings, testing technology tickets, and other duties as defined by management.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of applicable Florida Statutes, board and department rules governing licensure and regulation and consumer protection.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, ability to train individuals, ability to investigate, analyze and resolve complaints.
- Ability to understand and explain statutes, rules and regulations.
- Ability to use available technology to perform duties including computer software, hardware & data systems.
- Knowledge of educational programs.
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work activities.
- Ability to communicate and deal with people effectively.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Two years of professional or nonprofessional experience in business administration, customer or public relations, investigations, administrative work and/or professional regulation in a field related to area of responsibility.
- A valid driver license is required.
- An advanced degree can be substituted for one year of professional experience.
- Applicant who meets both the professional and educational experience.
