Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 9p-7:30a

Sign-On Bonus: $7,500

SUMMARY:

Join our dedicated surgical team as an Operating Room Surgical Technologist. You will play a vital role in ensuring the efficiency and success of surgical procedures. Your expertise in handling instruments, supplies, and maintaining sterility will be crucial to patient care during surgeries.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain a minimum of 15 hours in Continuing Medical Education (CME) annually.

• Prepare and check supplies, instruments, and equipment for surgical procedures, ensuring optimal function.

• Establish and maintain a sterile field during surgical procedures.

• Assist with draping the patient to isolate the operative site and ensure team members are properly attired.

• Employ aseptic techniques to maintain the sterile field and promptly address any infractions.

• Hand instruments and supplies to the surgeon during procedures.

• Accurately count sponges and sharps with the RN before the surgery and before the incision closure.

• Prepare sterile dressings for incisions.

• Stock surgical rooms and handle medications, sharps, and syringes as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Completion of a military surgical technology program OR Certified Surgical Technologist certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) with a degree in Surgical Technology OR eligibility under the Grand-Fathering or Hard to Fill Clauses.

• Certification as a Surgical Technologist through NBSTSA is required within 24 months of employment.

• Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) with current licensure in the State of New York are exempt from Surgical Technologist certification requirements.

EDUCATION:

Completion of an accredited program in Surgical Technology is required.

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:

Current certification as required above.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position may require medium work, exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds frequently, with the ability to walk, stand, and squat regularly.
