Key Position Details:

• Casual position - Preferred availability to include Wednesdays and/or Fridays
• 8-hour, day shifts
• No weekends

Job Description:

Manages patient care infusion encounters by utilizing a systematic approach to nursing practice that includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act. This includes collaborating with multidisciplinary hematology/oncology care team members, along with internal and external ancillary partners, in a fast-paced environment. Dedicated to the growth and development of the Allina Health Cancer Institute, incorporating evidence-based practice initiatives that align with ONS, NCCN, COC, and organizational standards of care.

Principle Responsibilities:

• Delivery of chemotherapy, biotherapy, and supportive care to hematology/oncology patients in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, recognized professional standards, and Allina Health Cancer Institute Policy.
• Complete patient assessment and education.
• Collaborate with health care team in order to coordinate and maintain continuity of care.
• Administrative tasks including indirect nursing activities which promote quality patient care.
• Documentation of care per Allina Health Cancer Institute policies and practice.
• Maintain overall accountability/responsibility for assigned patients.
• Comply with research protocols.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Associate's or Vocational degree in Nursing
• 1+ years Ambulatory chemo/biotherapy experience or 2+ years inpatient chemo/biotherapy infusion experience
• Peripheral IV Insertion experience, or willingness to be trained within 60 days of hire
• Phlebotomy skills, or willingness to be trained within 60 days of hire
• EPIC EMR, including Beacon application, or willingness to be trained at time of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN)
• 2+ years' experience in either Ambulatory Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Infusion or 3+ years inpatient chemo/biotherapy infusion experience

Licenses/Certifications:

• ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Provider Card required upon completion of Allina onboarding, within 30 days of hire
• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) from the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation must be obtained within 3 years of hire required for those hired before April 1, 2024; for those hired on/after April 1, 2024, must obtain within 30 months
• Licensed Registered Nurse MN Board of Nursing required
• Must meet at least ONE of the requirements below: Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association Current BLS certification from the American Red Cross Allina in-house BLS training (within 30 days of hire)

Physical Demands:

• Medium Work: Lifting weight up to 32 lbs. occasionally (Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy), up to 25 lbs. frequently

Pay Range:

Pay Range: $45.40 to $62.82 per hour. The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
