Join our dedicated team supporting the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) as we provide essential services that ensure command and control of the Defense Information System Network (DISN) for the Department of Defense and national security organizations. This position involves directly enhancing DISA capabilities and services.
The Leidos Digital Modernization Sector/Global Solutions Management-Operations II (GSMO-II) is looking for an Implementations Network Engineer to provide expertise in installation oversight, configuration, testing, monitoring, and activation of vital network equipment supporting Department of Defense networks.
Clearance requirement: U.S. citizenship with an active Secret clearance
** The anticipated salary range for this position is $100,000 to $110,000 **
Primary Responsibilities:
Coordinate with customers to conduct Initial Test and Acceptance (IT&A), execute comprehensive reporting, and complete data entry to ensure new services align with DISA standards.
Work collaboratively with customers, solution architects, and vendor SMEs to implement changes while identifying, analyzing, and resolving issues effectively.
Manage Service Orders in accordance with established Change Management procedures.
Ensure the accuracy of Telecommunication Service Orders (TSOs) for network additions and changes.
Initiate network device configurations using configlet tools.
Analyze DISN and databases to validate and implement customer requirements in a timely manner.
Design and implement solutions for complex technical problems, including testing and documenting modifications to network device configurations.
Coordinate with commercial vendors to activate customer circuits and establish engineered solutions for end-to-end connectivity.
Monitor network performance to assess the impact of changes on customer traffic, utilizing provided expectations and reporting tools.
Employ systems analysis techniques, consulting with users to determine system requirements that support customer operations.
Engage with DISA project managers and customers to clarify and resolve issues related to vague or incomplete requirements.
Facilitate the approval process by reaching out to stakeholders to ensure the consistent progress of service requests.
Basic Qualifications:
BS degree with 4-8 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 2-6 years of relevant experience.
Proficient knowledge of various network hardware specifications, configuration, and testing processes.
Experience in configuring, activating, testing, and analyzing network systems.
Demonstrated experience in network engineering, problem management, and performance management.
Familiarity with telecommunications and information technology terms and technologies.
Knowledge of data and voice network design across various transmission systems, including router-to-router connections and switch trunking.
Experience with key network services (BGP, OSPF, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, WAN, VPN, VLAN, VRF, etc.) and network appliances (routers, load balancers, firewalls).
Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment while being self-motivated to complete assignments and enhance proficiencies.
Excellent written and verbal communication, team-building, and collaboration skills.
An active Secret security clearance is mandatory.
Holding a DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 baseline certification (Security+ CE or equivalent) is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience with DISA or a strong understanding of DISA systems and processes.
Experience with SharePoint for data entry tasks.
Proven experience in customer outreach initiatives.
Familiarity with the DISA Request Fulfillment process, including related documents (TSRs, TSOs, completion reports).
Basic understanding of Department of Defense policies and organizational hierarchy.
Understanding of DISA's organizational structure and how its elements work towards fulfilling mission partner requirements.
Relevant network certifications: Cisco (CCNA, CCNP), Microsoft (MCSE), security certifications (Security+ CE, CISSP), and ITIL certification.
