Military Family Life Counselor - Adult Support

Leidos is seeking licensed behavioral health professionals to join our Adult Military and Family Life Counseling (MFLC) team. This is a meaningful chance to support U.S. military service members and their families as they navigate crucial military life transitions.

The Adult Military and Family Life Counselor (Adult-MFLC) plays an essential role in providing non-medical support, which includes counseling, consultation, and outreach for service members, military family members, and eligible staff. Your role will focus on preventive, solution-focused approaches to help address and resolve issues before they escalate.

Service members, spouses, and families face unique emotional and situational challenges due to the stresses of military life. This role offers you the opportunity to connect with them in significant moments when they need support the most.

Key Responsibilities of the Adult-MFLC include:

• Conducting face-to-face counseling with military service members and their families (individuals, couples, and families).
• Engaging in activities with service members and families, providing coaching and supportive guidance to installation staff.
• Offering presentations at military-connect events for service members, military families, and leadership.
• Encouraging positive creativity and utilizing approved materials.
• Establishing rapport with families by participating in community and installation events.
• Supporting transition adjustments related to moving, new schools, and other changes.
• Participating in ongoing training and contract activities as assigned.
• Communicating trends and issues observed at the assigned installation to Team Leads.

Additional Duties may include:

• Responding to emergency situations on military installations.
• Navigating various physical environments on a military base.
• Complying with site-specific requirements to work at designated locations.

Work Environment:

Your duties will primarily be performed in various indoor (approximately 60%) and outdoor (approximately 40%) locations. Indoor settings will include child development centers under the Department of Defense, with outdoor settings often requiring traversing uneven terrains and exposure to weather conditions.

Licensure Portability:

Under the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), licensed Military and Family Life Counselors can provide services to military families across various U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and territories, regardless of the counselor's licensing state.

Minimum Requirements:

• A Master's degree or higher in Behavioral Health Professions (MS/MSW/MA/PhD).
• Independent practice-level licensure (LCSW, MFT, LPCC, Psychologist) in the U.S.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Must pass a background check, including a Child National Agency Check and Inquiries (NACI/CNACI) for Public Trust clearance.
