Summary of Position Perform flow cytometry processing for leukemia/lymphoma and PNH testing. Use cytometry software for data acquisition. Assist with daily QC/QA, instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, validation projects, and specimen management, including sterile split technique. Key Job Elements

• Sample Preparation: Identify, lyse, and stain samples for flow cytometry.
• Sample Splits: Maintain sterile technique in splitting and preparing samples.
• Cytometers: Identify, acquire, troubleshoot, and maintain cytometers.
• Laboratory equipment: Perform QC, calibration, and maintenance.
• Fresh Prep: Verify specimen identification and processing accuracy.
• Reports: Manage patient reports using laboratory LIS.
• SOP Development: Contribute to SOP creation and updates.
• Professional Development: Engage in ongoing education and proficiency testing.
• Quality Control: Follow policies to ensure laboratory standards and compliance.
• Reagents/Media: Prepare reagents and media per protocols.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge/Experience

• Bachelor's degree in laboratory science or related field.
• 1-3 years of flow cytometry experience preferred; senior candidates with 3+ years considered.
• Certification as a medical laboratory technologist or clinical scientist (e.g., ASCP, NCA, HEW).
• Continuing education requirements depend on certification status.

Environment

• Moderate standing required.
• Manual dexterity needed for testing procedures.
• Potential exposure to chemicals and biohazards.
