Location: Chesapeake Oncology Hematology Associates

We are looking for a dedicated Medical Assistant to play an essential role in providing outstanding patient care in a collaborative environment. Your duties will include:

• Welcoming patients and efficiently escorting them to and from exam rooms, conducting patient intake in accordance with established protocols.
• Ensuring a clean and organized environment by preparing and straightening exam rooms between patient visits.
• Preparing syringes and administering subcutaneous and intra-muscular injections as required.
• Assisting healthcare providers with injectable procedures to ensure seamless patient care.
• Preparing and routing pathology and lab specimens accurately, based on the patient's insurance requirements.
• Responding to patient inquiries both in the office and over the phone, as directed by the physician.
• Scheduling and rescheduling appointments with providers and specialists as necessary.
• Adhering to OSHA, bloodborne pathogen standards, and maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Managing medication samples, disposing of out-of-date supplies, and keeping precise records.
• Training and supporting fellow employees in medical assistant duties as needed.
• Assisting with front desk check-in or check-out procedures when required.
• Carrying out additional duties as assigned to support our patient-focused practice.

The Medical Assistant will work independently or under the direct supervision of a physician, fostering a team-oriented atmosphere committed to high-quality care.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of one (1) year of experience as a medical assistant is preferred.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant program.
• Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and collaborate effectively within a team.
• Demonstrates professionalism and outstanding customer service skills.
• Able to communicate clearly and concisely with healthcare providers.
• Exhibits a friendly and professional demeanor when interacting with patients and colleagues.
• Must be able to lift at least 15 pounds and stand for extended periods (e.g., one hour at a time).
