UPMC is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery team in Carlisle, PA. In this Monday through Friday, 8:00 A.M. - 4:30 P.M. role, you'll enjoy no weekends or holidays, giving you the work-life balance you deserve.
nYou'll support a dynamic team of three providers-including one highly skilled plastic surgeon and two experienced physician assistants-in a small, collaborative office setting. From prepping patients to assisting with in-office procedures, your role will be integral to delivering exceptional care and smooth daily operations.

nThe salary range for this position is $18.12 - $28.39 based on experience.
nThis position qualifies for a $ sign on bonus with a 1-year commitment.

nThe Medical Assistant will assist physicians with various aspects of patient care (including clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks) ensuring patient satisfaction.
nResponsibilities:

Accompany patients to exam/procedure room.

Assist patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc.
n n - n
Collect patient information/history, taking vitals, performing screenings per provider guidelines.
n n - n
Relay instructions to patients/families.
n n - n
Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other state and federal regulations.
n n - n
Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.
n n - n
Complete forms/requisitions as needed.
n n - n
Prepare and managing charts to ensure information completed and filed appropriately.
n n - n
Schedule appointments.
n n - n
Verify insurance coverage and patient demographics.
n n - n
Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment according to department protocol.
n n - n
Clean exam/procedure rooms, instruments and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control.
n n - n
Manage inventory of supplies; restocking exam/procedure rooms.
n n - n
Check schedules and organizing patient flow.
n n - n
Answering calls and providing pertinent information including patient education as directed.
n n - n
Perform clinic procedures according to policy and procedure.

Assist physicians with procedures.
n n - n
Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e., OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health).

Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.
n n - n
Comply with all UPMC Health System policies and procedures.

Under the direction and supervision of a physician, administer injectable medication and vaccines when appropriate.

Other front office responsibilities, as required.

Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities.

Medical Assistant, Senior

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Successful completion of Medical Assistant Program or equivalent hospital program (LPN/RN/EMT)

OR successful completion of certification examination (AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, or NHA)

OR at least 1 year of patient care experience required.
n n - n
Must be responsible and demonstrate proficiency in three practice category specific tasks.

Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities.

Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary from the Medical Assistant Career Ladder, based on their individual experience and education.
