About the Role
We are seeking a Manufacturing Purchaser to manage procurement activities that support production operations. This role is responsible for sourcing and purchasing raw materials, components, and indirect supplies to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing flow. The ideal candidate has strong vendor management skills, a background in procurement or supply chain, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, review, and process Purchase Orders (POs) for raw materials, components, equipment, and indirect supplies.
- Source and evaluate suppliers to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and reliability.
- Monitor inventory levels to maintain adequate stock for production while minimizing excess.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with vendors to achieve cost savings and favorable delivery schedules.
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and act as a primary point of contact for manufacturing purchasing needs.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and planning teams to forecast demand and align procurement activities with production schedules.
- Resolve discrepancies related to invoices, deliveries, and quality issues in coordination with Accounts Payable and Quality Assurance.
- Analyze purchasing data and trends to support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and industry regulations.
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field preferred.
- 2-5 years of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, Infor, or similar).
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills (intermediate or above).
- Professional Skills:
- Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Clear and professional communication skills (written and verbal).
