KPMG is currently seeking a Managing Director to join our Ethics and Compliance Group.
Responsibilities
- This role reports directly to the Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer (CECO) and manages and oversees the conduct oversight and remediation program, ensuring compliance with U.S. DOJ, SEC, PCAOB and other regulatory and professional standards; this role will be critical to ensuring that KPMG has a process in place to promptly investigate all credible reports of misconduct, ensure appropriate escalation of such allegations and take appropriate remedial action in response to substantiated allegations, all of which is foundational to an effective “Speak Up” program
- Guarantee that multiple, effective avenues exist across KPMG to allow employees and third parties to raise actual or suspected concerns, including overseeing KPMGs hotline to enable anonymous reporting; classify and assign investigations to be managed by non-conflicted, qualified resources
- Manage the firms anti-retaliation program, including working with others to ensure that there are relevant policies, training and communications about the program consistent with the firms risk assessment, as well as monitoring to ensure that the program is effective
- Ensure disciplinary sanctions are meted out appropriately across the Firm, regardless of who has engaged in misconduct or what function the employee or partner/principal is in
- Make certain that information is tracked and effective reporting of data, including key trends and benchmarking analysis, is created to support the Firm and all relevant stakeholders, including the CECO, in implementing the Firms Ethics and Compliance program and that Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and other metrics are established to monitor effectiveness of the program
- Conduct regular reviews and audits of the Corporate Ethics and Conduct Oversight program, identifying gaps or areas of improvement and ensure the CECO, NMP for Risk Management and Compliance and Vice Chair for LRMC are made aware of significant matters timely to enable appropriate escalation
Qualifications
- A Juris Doctor Degree with 12 years or more of experience in Ethics and Compliance preferred
- High emotional intelligence to manage relationships across the team and the broader organizations, resolve conflicts and understand needs and motivations of both senior leaders and team members
- Leadership skills and ability to navigate ambiguity and influence stakeholders, even without direct authority
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and educate diverse audiences, from senior leadership to frontline employees with a keen attention to detail
- Ability to work discretely and confidentially with sensitive information
- Proactive in identifying potential challenges, opportunities for enhancement and innovation, including by leveraging technology and have the ability to interpret data, synthesize and communicate data driven conclusions
