Machinist Operator
We are seeking a skilled Machinist Operator to join our rapidly growing manufacturing team. As a leader in designing and manufacturing CNC machinery for the residential, commercial, and architectural door industries, we are expanding our team to better handle customer rush orders and support regular production. Operating on a first shift from Monday to Friday, 5:30 AM to 2:00 PM, the Machinist Operator will play a crucial role in maintaining production efficiency and quality.
Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor various machine tools to produce parts according to blueprints, drawings, and job travelers.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and work holding devices for each machining operation.
- Execute machining operations with accuracy and precision, adhering to tight tolerances and specifications.
- Inspect machined parts using measuring tools to ensure conformance to quality standards.
- Maintain accurate records of production activities through paper and/or digital work travelers, including production output, quality control data, and material shortages.
- Sustain a safe and clean manufacturing environment, collaborate with Machine Shop Supervisor and Maintenance Team to ensure the production environment, equipment, and tools are maintained and in good working condition.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including PPE and machine guarding.
- Collaborate with Machine Shop Lead / Programming to address technical challenges and improve component prints, designs, and CNC programs for better manufacturability and lower cost.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a production machine shop environment.
- Extensive experience in machining, including proficiency in operating various machine tools such as CNC machines, lathes, and mills. Manual milling experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to read drawings and work with tolerances is essential.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality machined parts.
- Ability to perform math calculations for measurements and tolerances.
- Proven experience with machining processes and interpreting engineering drawings and prints.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word, as well as other web-based tools for record-keeping and data reporting.
- General understanding of OSHA and safe manufacturing principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues.
- Proficient communication and interpersonal skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Manual mill experience is strongly preferred, but a strong CNC machinist may be considered with training.
- A machinist certificate from a recognized program may be accepted in place of work experience for entry-level pay.
- Candidates with advanced experience in car, dirt bike, or engine repair, focusing on tasks like valves, timing belts, transmissions, or gearboxes, may also be considered.

Work Environment
Work in a well-equipped machine shop environment where safety and cleanliness are prioritized. The role operates on a first shift, Monday through Friday, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and continuous improvement. Dress code adheres to safety protocols including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Petaluma, California.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
