Shift: 4 x 10-hour Day Shifts (including on-call weekends)

Job Summary: We are seeking experienced RNs for our Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) with strong ICU background to provide exceptional care to post-operative patients at a Level I trauma center. Candidates will be responsible for monitoring patients recovering from anesthesia, managing pain and side effects, and communicating with the medical team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor post-operative patients' recovery and consciousness levels following anesthesia.
• Obtain and record vital signs accurately.
• Observe patients for side effects of anesthesia and manage symptoms such as pain and nausea.
• Administer medications as prescribed and document patient care in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
• Educate patients and families on post-surgical care and answer any questions.
• Work independently and exercise critical thinking in a fast-paced surgical environment.
• Provide coverage in both the main Operating Room (OR) and Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC).
• Participate in on-call rotations including Saturdays (7 pm – 7 am), Sundays (7 am – 7 pm and 7 pm – 7 am).

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the District of Columbia or applicable state – Required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience – Required
• Minimum 2 years recent PACU/Preop experience – Required
• Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program – Required
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – Highly desired
• Certifications:
  • PALS, BLS & ACLS – Required
  • CPAN, TNCC, CCRN – Highly desirable

• Must be able to start urgently by 08/25/2025 or 09/02/2025
• Critical care and trauma experience required (no surgical center experience)
• Strong ability to work independently and think critically in complex situations
