The Apple Intelligence Model Optimization and Algorithms Development team brings innovative AI research into Apple products.

Description

We are looking for strong ML applied scientists and research engineers to build ground breaking server-based and on-device large machine learning capabilities and emerging innovations. We are part of a collaborative group of software developers and deep learning experts working in the area of neural network optimization and related algorithms. Successful candidates will have a strong software engineering background, zero-to-one machine learning development experience, and broad expertise in machine learning model optimization (quality optimization, performance optimization, etc).

Minimum Qualifications

  Proven ability to define goals and deliver results when faced with uncertainty and real-world constraints in AI product development

  n

  Experience on developing/optimizing/training large language models (LLMs), or large computer vision models, or generative AI models

  n

• n

  Software engineering skills in Python and general purpose system admin and infrastructure management abilities

  n
n
• n

  History of applied research in neural network model optimization or training or a related area application

  n
n
• n

  Proven track record to drive scientific investigations and experiments and overcome obstacles and uncertainty in a research environment

  n

• n

  BS degree and 5+ years of experience, MSc and 3+ years of experience, or PhD and 1+ year of experience

  n
n

Preferred Qualifications

• n

  Publication record at top AI/ML venues

  n
n
• n

  Experience with network optimization algorithms, e.g. quantization and compression, sparsification, knowledge distillation, or NAS

  n

• n

  Experience with languages such as C/C++, Java, Go, Swift, Rust, or Obj-C.

• n

  Infrastructure management and debugging experience

  n
n
• n

  Experimental rigor when training/evaluating DNNs for the purpose of benchmarking neural network optimization algorithms

• n

  Strong communication and accountability skills; hard-working, strong work ethic, and collaboration abilities

  PhD in related field

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $139,500 and $258,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
