Position Summary

As a Licensed Practical Nurse Specialist, you will provide essential nursing care. Your responsibilities include:

• Assisting in resident assessments upon admission and continuously thereafter.
• Communicating significant changes in patient conditions to the interdisciplinary team.
• Documenting assessments accurately and in a timely manner.
• Participating in and updating care plans based on resident needs.
• Implementing nursing interventions, ensuring safety during medication administration and treatments.
• Utilizing critical thinking skills to recognize changes in resident conditions and communicate effectively with doctors using the SBARR format.
• Maintaining composure during crisis situations and effectively addressing family or staff concerns.
• Monitoring residents’ care plans for effectiveness and addressing any issues through the QAPI process.
• Assisting residents with their daily living activities as needed.
• Completing 12 hours of nursing-related continuing education annually.
• Staying informed of best practices in nursing care through self-education and adherence to Bethesda policies.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing school, leading to licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
• Active LPN license in the state of employment.
• CPR and AED certification, or willingness to obtain within six months of hire.
• IV certification, or willingness to obtain within six months of hire.
• Preferred experience in long-term care settings.
• Strong assessment skills to address the basic nursing needs of geriatric residents.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with residents, families, and staff.
• Effective time management and organizational skills.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, lift, and transfer patients, including those over 200 lbs, using proper techniques.
• Capacity to push and pull equipment over 40 lbs safely.
• Manual dexterity and coordination for patient and equipment handling.
• Visual acuity to distinguish colors and accurately document care electronically and in writing.

Pay range: $26.96 - $43.25 per hour
