Maximus is looking for a highly skilled Lead MQ Engineer to join our team in supporting a vital federal client within defense systems for Homeland Security. In this role, you will manage the daily operations and administration of IBM MQ environments, ensuring effective and secure message flow across various applications. Your responsibilities will include monitoring system performance, upholding security standards, and thoroughly documenting processes to ensure compliance and availability.
This position is on-site five days a week and requires an active secret clearance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain a scalable and secure IBM MQ and Liberty messaging infrastructure, including queue managers, channels, and high-availability configurations.
- Monitor system health, performance metrics, and optimize configurations to ensure reliable operations.
- Lead enterprise messaging initiatives, ensuring alignment with business and IT strategies.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting support and serve as the final escalation point for complex MQ issues.
- Implement security controls, encryption, and auditing to maintain data integrity and compliance.
- Perform capacity planning and forecasting for enterprise environments.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, development, and operations teams for seamless messaging integration.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including architecture and recovery strategies.
- Stay updated on MQ technologies and recommend enhancements for a competitive messaging environment.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Active Secret clearance is required.
- Only US Citizens can be considered due to contract requirements.
- A minimum of 12 years of experience in an MQ Engineer role or related field.
- Proficiency with WebSphere.
- Candidates must reside within a commutable distance for daily onsite work and on-call requirements.
- Willingness to meet recall requirements, including participation in a rotational on-call schedule.
Preferred Qualifications:
- IBM System Admin for MQ certification.
- Experience with IBM WebSphere Liberty.
