Job Title: Lead Medical Technologist

Department : Laboratory Services

Location: Canton - Potsdam Hospital

Hours Per Week: 37.5 weekly scheduled hours

Schedule: 7.5-hour day shifts

SUMMARY : Join our dedicated medical team as a Lead Medical Technologist, where you will perform essential clinical laboratory analyses and examinations on blood, urine, body fluids, and tissues in a timely manner, using advanced techniques and equipment. With your expertise, you will contribute to accurate physician diagnoses and treatment plans while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. You will also have opportunities to provide leadership and supervision during weekends and holidays as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct accurate and timely testing.

• Interpret and correlate test results with patient history for optimal clinical insights.

• Communicate critical lab results promptly to healthcare professionals.

• Perform quality control and maintenance activities, including troubleshooting.

• Prepare reagents and manage laboratory supplies efficiently.

• Supervise and mentor new and existing staff in procedures and instrumentation.

• Assist in training medical technology students as needed.

• Engage in research and development of new technologies with written evaluations.

• Complete additional duties as assigned by the Manager.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related Science (Biology, Chemistry, or Physical Sciences) with relevant experience recognized by the New York State Department of Education for Clinical Laboratory Technologist licensure.

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in a Medical Technology Laboratory.

• Possession of a New York State Department of Education License or Limited Permit as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.

• Valid NYS driver's license if travel is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• ASCP Certification preferred.

• Experience in Clinical or Pathology Laboratories is a plus.

• Previous supervisory or leadership experience is valuable.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

M - Medium Work - Requires exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or more than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly for movement; involves frequent walking, standing, or squatting.

PAY RANGE: $41.75 - $47.00

The listed base pay range is a reflection of current potential base pay for a successful full-time applicant. It may change in the future and is eligible for additional pay components. Compensation is determined by experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
