Job Description

The Lead Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing custom equipment using SolidWorks software and will directly oversee all assigned equipment design and build projects through their completion.

This role involves providing engineering support to the machine design staff and ensuring a high-value solution that meets application requirements through proactive communication and customer contact.

Responsibilities

  Design custom and standard equipment based on a thorough understanding of the customers’ specifications and specific application needs, using commonly accepted engineering practices and current industry standards.

  Design mechanical systems and mechanisms, such as pallet dispensers, slip sheet dispensers, pick and place systems, pallet conveyors, bucket elevators, pneumatic conveying, and screw feeders.

  Use hand calculations and FEA to evaluate designs.

  Design and produce schematics for hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

• n

  Collaborate with engineering staff to provide engineering information and complete design documentation for manufacturing, ensuring proper, timely, and cost-effective manufacture of the equipment.

  Provide engineering expertise and support to machine design staff.

• n

  Perform troubleshooting and problem-solving tasks on equipment in design, fabrication, assembly, and field installations.

  Work with management to achieve department goals in terms of product quality, project schedule, and corporate financial objectives.

Essential Skills

• n

  Experience designing custom machines within SolidWorks (Preference is 5+ years).

  n

• n

  Proficient in FEA for stress and load analysis using SolidWorks Simulation.

• n

  ERP experience for creating and modifying BOM.

  n
n
• n

  Strong communication skills, verified through references.

  n
n
• n

  Prior lead experience in managing projects and teams of engineers.

  n

• n

  Material handling and bulk handling expertise.

  n
n
• n

  Engineering degree.

  n
n

Work Environment

The role involves working in a small company environment with around 40 employees, including 7 mechanical engineers and 2 electrical engineers.

45 hour work week typical

The Lead Mechanical Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager, without direct reports but responsible for assigning workload to designers/detailers and overseeing their work.

The company manufactures filling systems, dischargers, and other bulk material handling systems.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $41.00 - $52.89/hr.
