Lead Java Developer with React

Cognizant’s Digital Engineering practice is seeking a highly qualified Lead Java Developer with React experience developing and building high-performing, scalable, enterprise applications. You will be part of a digital software team that works on high-demand applications. Our engineers have a passion for high-quality, reliable and maintainable code. Responsibilities

• Project Planning & Architecture: Define the technical architecture, stack, and design patterns for scalable applications.
• Technology Roadmapping: Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption based on business needs.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, designers, and business teams to align technical solutions with business goals.
• End-to-End Development: Lead development across the full stack—front-end (ReactJS, CSS, JavaScript frameworks), back-end (Java, Spring Boot, Microservices).
• Code Quality & Reviews: Set coding standards, conduct code reviews, and ensure maintainable, secure, and performant code.
• Mentorship & Coaching: Guide junior developers, foster skill development, and promote best practices.
• Task Delegation: Assign responsibilities based on team strengths and project priorities.
• Performance Monitoring: Track team productivity, resolve blockers, and ensure timely delivery.
• Progress Updates: Regularly report project status to stakeholders and leadership.
• Documentation: Maintain clear documentation for codebases, APIs, and system architecture.
• Client Interaction: Participate in client meetings to gather feedback and adjust development priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 8+ years of hands-on development experience in full stack roles.
• 5+ years in a leadership or senior developer role, guiding teams and projects.
• Proficiency in Java 8+, with deep knowledge of Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Spring Security.
• Experience in building RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
• Strong skills in ReactJS, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• Strong team leadership and mentoring capabilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Experience with performance tuning and security best practices.

The annual salary for this position is between $110,000 - $135,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
