Job Description

This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employees assigned to this department. This is not an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities, and LCMC Health reserves the right to amend and change responsibilities to meet organizational needs as necessary. General Duties

• Provides direction to and coordination of personnel during assigned shifts.
• Decontaminates and sterilizes instruments, medical supplies, and equipment. Assembles wraps and sterilizes trays of instruments. Follow proper Standard Precautions while in decontamination and sterilization areas.
• Monitors biological and chemical wash solutions to ensure quality and consistency for decontamination of instruments and medical equipment.
• Leverages instrument tracking system to update instrument details.
• Performs basic equipment troubleshooting before contacting Biomed or OEM for repair.
• Provides daily station assignments to create appropriate departmental workflow.
• Assists in quality assessments and identifies educational opportunities for staff.

Education/Experience Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED and 1 year of sterile processing or operating room scrub technician experience.
• 3 years of experience in lieu of education.
• Preferred: Education and/or training in Sterile Processing, Surgical Technology, or other equivalent medical training.
