Inpatient Medical Coder

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Part A Inpatient Medical Coder with extensive experience in cardiothoracic surgery coding. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of inpatient coding experience, hold a CCS certification, and be proficient in MS-DRG and APR-DRG methodologies.
Key Responsibilities:
Accurately assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for inpatient cardiothoracic surgical procedures.
Ensure compliance with federal coding regulations and hospital policies.
Review and analyze medical records to determine appropriate codes and DRG assignments.
Collaborate with clinical documentation improvement (CDI) teams to ensure coding accuracy and completeness.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, payer requirements, and regulatory changes.
Participate in audits and quality improvement initiatives as needed.

Experience with Epic, Cerner, or other EHR systems.
Familiarity with coding compliance audits and CDI collaboration.
Advanced training or coursework in cardiothoracic anatomy and procedures.
MCS(Mechanical Circulatory Support), Transplant (Heart, Lung, LVAD).
Minimum 5 years of inpatient coding experience, with a strong focus on cardiothoracic surgery.
Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credential from AHIMA.
Proficiency in MS-DRG and APR-DRG grouping methodologies.
Deep understanding of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding systems.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
