Akron General 5100 Urology, GU/GYN & Plastics Unit cares for a variety of medical patients with roughly 50% urology, 25% plastics and 25% med/surg. 5100 is GSV-certified and Akron General one of 8 hospitals in the country with such certification, thanks for the 5100 unit. With a teamwork approach to care, this unit has a great culture with a low turnover rate.

A caregiver in this position works evenings from 2:00PM 10:30PM, including every other weekend and 3 holidays per year.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Perform administrative and clerical duties.
• Conduct an in-person greeting and welcome newly admitted and transferred patients to the unit.
• Facilitate communication between patients, families, other departments and healthcare team members regarding patient care.
• Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges.
• Provide concierge service to assist patients and families with wayfinding and directing them to available resources.
• Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care.
• Troubleshoot equipment.
• Respond to patient call lights.
• Keep nursing stations clean and organized.
• Complete mandatory education and training.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma or GED
• One year of experience in a customer service-related role
• Prior job experience with typing or computer training or equivalent coursework

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Microsoft Office experience

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
