The Haptic Engineering team develops innovative haptic solutions that are central to Apple’s products, including the iPhone and Apple Watch. We are seeking a control engineer to lead the design, development, and validation of control systems and algorithms for next-generation haptic actuators and experiences. Come join us!

Description

Your role will encompass a diverse array of responsibilities, including:

Control system design, analysis, and integration for haptic actuators Characterize and validate haptic module and system performance Perform system modeling and simulation Prototype bring-up, debug and characterization Define factory test requirements for haptic system Author engineering requirements and specifications Communicating cross-functionally and throughout management structure (written, verbal, and presentation) Perform failure mode analysis and problem solving International travel to support the product development Technology pathfinding and IP generation

Minimum Qualifications

• BS and a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience

• Strong background in control engineering, dynamics, and signal processing

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Team Oriented: must be able to thrive in collaborative cross-functional environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in control system design, analysis, implementation, and validation

• Track record of driving technical decisions and alignment across diverse engineering functions

• Familiarity with modeling electro-mechanical system

• Proficiency with Matlab/Simulink and C/C++ Experience with electromagnetic or piezoelectric actuators is a plus

• Experience with high volume mass production is a plus

• Knowledge of micro controller or embedded hardware/software is a plus

• Knowledge of state-space techniques is a plus

• Knowledge of nonlinear control technique is a plus

• Experience with AI/ML-based control system design is a plus

• M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Physics or equivalent with a specialization in control engineering

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $181,100 and $318,400, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
