Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced GIS Applications Architect to lead the design, development, and governance of enterprise geospatial solutions.
This role requires deep expertise in Esri ArcGIS technologies, cloud-based GIS architecture, and data management practices.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in public health, government, or HHS environments and will be responsible for guiding geospatial strategy, stakeholder engagement, and technical leadership across multiple projects.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design and implementation of enterprise geospatial data architecture and workflows.
Provide technical leadership in Esri ArcGIS tools including ArcGIS Pro, spatial analysis, database management, and web mapping.
Develop and enforce geospatial governance policies, frameworks, and stakeholder engagement strategies.
Manage geospatial datasets including demographic, socioeconomic, and health-related data.
Ensure adherence to metadata standards, data quality, and documentation best practices.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support GIS-enabled applications and integrations.
Oversee multiple GIS projects independently, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business goals.
Mentor GIS team members and promote knowledge sharing and technical growth.

Required Qualifications

Bachelorâ€™s or Masterâ€™s degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Public Health, or a related field.
7+ years of professional GIS experience, including 3+ years in a lead or architect role within cloud environments (preferably in health, HHS, or government sectors).
Expert proficiency in Esri ArcGIS tools and technologies.
Demonstrated leadership in geospatial governance and stakeholder engagement.
Strong knowledge of data management, metadata standards, and quality assurance.
Hands-on experience with enterprise geospatial workflows and datasets.
Excellent communication, technical writing, and stakeholder management skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects independently.

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years of experience with SQL Server Enterprise Geodatabases.
5+ years of experience with Python and SQL scripting.
4+ years of experience with healthcare provider/client GIS mapping solutions.
4+ years of GIS team mentorship and leadership.
2+ years of experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
3+ years of familiarity with Medicaid or social service datasets.
Certifications such as Esri Enterprise System Design Professional, Esri ArcGIS Enterprise Admin Pro, or GISP.
Experience with machine learning and LLMs for data extraction and documentation.
Knowledge of GeoAI and generative AI for geospatial analytics.
Experience integrating Snowflake data warehouse with GIS systems.
Experience developing custom GIS-enabled web applications.
