Geotechnical Engineer - Tunneling

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Geotechnical Engineer!

This position will sit out of our Houston, TX office.

Your Impact

  Perform geotechnical engineering analysis and design for infrastructure projects around the country and locally, including work for tunnels, bridge & building foundations, highways, slopes and embankments.

  Plan and manage subsurface investigations for roadway, bridge, tunnel and building projects, and subsequently prepare various types of geotechnical reports including, baseline reports, interpretive reports and data reports.

• n

  Apply high-level geotechnical engineering techniques and processes to identify improvements for various infrastructure project phases including concept development, preliminary design, final design, procurement, construction, and operation.

• n

  Apply sound engineering judgement on geotechnical and underground portions of construction projects to provide meaningful design and construction reviews and inspections.

• n

  Develop construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates for underground and foundation aspects of infrastructure projects.

• n

  Participate in cross-functional teams of engineers, planners, and scientific professionals to execute project work on multiple concurrent projects.

• n

  Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, drillers, and clients in a confident and professional manner.

  n

• n

  Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to prepare competitive proposals for a wide range of WSP proposals.

• n

  Perform geotechnical logging, observation, field inspections, instrumentation installation monitoring, etc.

• n

  Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

n
• n

  Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with Geotechnical Engineering focus

  n
n
• n

  3+ years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering

  n
n
• n

  Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP"s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures

• n

  Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment

• n

  Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policies

  Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

  Proven experience in Texas area geotechnical practice and geology

• n

  Proven experience with TxDOT and Design Build projects

  n

• n

  Computer/Software Skills; Geotechnical: GeoStudio (SLOPE/W, SEEP/W, SIGMA/W, &QUAKE), LPILE, GROUP, SNAIL, SHAFT, MSEW, PLAXIS, DeepEX, Slides, gINT.

Preferred Qualifications

  Master's Degree in Civil Engineering with Geotechnical Engineering focus

• n

  Texas PE registration

  n
n
• n

  Experience managing small to mid-size projects.

  n

• n

  40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR ) preferred.
