Job Overview:
A law firm located in Washington, DC is actively seeking a motivated associate with 1-4 years of relevant experience to join its commercial litigation practice. This role involves contributing to high-stakes, multifaceted disputes across both state and federal venues, advocating on behalf of a diverse portfolio of clients. Ideal candidates will be eager to develop litigation expertise, take initiative on case strategy, and work collaboratively with seasoned litigators.
Duties:
Assist in the management and progression of complex commercial litigation matters
Draft legal memoranda, pleadings, discovery requests/responses, and motions
Conduct legal research on procedural and substantive issues across jurisdictions
Collaborate with senior attorneys during all phases of litigation
Participate in case strategy discussions and trial preparation
Attend hearings, depositions, and client meetings as needed
Ensure timely communication with clients and team members
Requirements:
1-4 years of experience in commercial litigation or comparable litigation practice
Familiarity with procedural rules in both federal and state courts
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks in high-pressure environments
Strong drafting, analytical, and organizational skills
Keen attention to detail and a proactive work ethic
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited U.S. law school
Certifications:
Admission to the District of Columbia Bar (or eligibility to waive in)
Skills:
Excellent legal writing and research capabilities
Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with attorneys and support staff
Sound judgment and problem-solving aptitude
Comfortable with technology platforms commonly used in litigation practices
