Summary

This project location is TBD and will require mobilizing to the site. Project planning will take place at BV world headquarters in Overland Park, KS. Union or Union management experience is strongly preferred. Conventional power experience as an electrical superintendent is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interface with and monitor direct hire supervision and major subcontractor supervision and field engineering. Ensure project requirements and expectations are met for craft and supervisory performance, direct hire productivity, and subcontractor performance. Ensure safety, quality, schedule, and performance standards are met per Black & Veatch policies.

• Provide craft supervisors with information and technical direction to complete project safely, timely, and with quality. Define schedule expectations to craft supervisors and subcontractors. Communicate schedule requirements to all levels of craft discipline and supervision.

• Coordinate interpretation of technical requirements and provide technical data to direct hire workforce, subcontractor supervision, or Construction Engineers. Ensure compliance with standards, procedures, and contractual commitments.

• On Union Projects, align daily project execution with National Maintenance and Project Labor Union Agreements and understand Local Union agreements. Establish relationships with Local Union BA and Site Job Steward, ensuring uninterrupted workflow at union interface points. Stand in for Construction Manager when requested. Mentor other discipline superintendents and identify training needs. May be designated Lead Discipline Superintendent as assigned.

• Lead foreman/subcontractor meetings; develop and monitor a 3 Week Look Ahead Schedule for assigned work scope. Develop corrective plans to meet progress and productivity targets. Ensure resources (material, manpower) are available on site for the 3 Week Look Ahead.

• Develop and monitor punch list activities, maintain daily site logs, review timesheets, installed quantity reports, and progress payments. Manage subcontractor compliance with scope and schedule, and foster stable relationships with subcontractors.

• Coordinate with Field Subcontract Administrator on extra work requests (RFMPs/WAs) and with Construction Engineer on CIRs. Administer execution of work packages and equipment installation. Develop a Job Hazard Analysis for major erection packages within scope.

• Identify potential back charges and out-of-scope issues; support the commercial recovery process. Provide supervision, training, and performance management to direct reports. Adhere to safety and quality standards. Support continuous improvement and change management.

• Supervise direct hire field personnel, foremen, and subcontractors, and coordinate with CM projects and other disciplines as needed.

Management & Qualifications

• Management Responsibilities: Supervises work of others; responsible for hiring, discipline, and pay administration of subordinates.

• Preferred Qualifications: Construction Management or Engineering degree. Industrial Relations Training. Training in cost control, back charges, and schedule management. Construction management and contract administration training.

• Preferred Skills: Budget and cost control, industrial relations, union agreements knowledge, safety awareness, multi-tasking, problem-solving, project management, communication, constructability knowledge, leadership, risk management, and related construction competencies.

• Minimum Qualifications: 11+ years of experience as a Superintendent or Construction Manager on equivalent projects. Valid driver's license. Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding (background check, drug screen, MVR) as required by law.

• Certifications: OSHA 10 certification.

Work Environment / Physical Demands

• Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds, standing, kneeling, bending, and walking long distances in varied conditions. Full range of motion and handling of tools; may work up to 12-hour shifts outdoors.

• Work environment includes typical construction site conditions, cramped spaces, extreme temperatures, dust, noise, hazardous equipment, and potentially safety-sensitive duties. Office environment also possible.
