We are seeking a skilled distribution engineer or designer to provide detailed engineering, design, and planning assessments. You will evaluate system operations and develop project scopes for overhead and underground utility systems, ensuring they align with utility standards.

This is a remote opportunity with site travel 2-3 times per week around the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.

Responsibilities:

• Provide detailed engineering, design, and planning assessments and recommendations.
• Evaluate system operations and develop project scopes for overhead and underground utility systems.
• Design overhead and underground replacements per utility standards.
• Develop and modify accurate estimates and engineering drawings using BlueBeam, AutoCAD, and GIS software.
• Meet with managers, engineers, and colleagues to review project status and determine communication strategies.
• Visit site plans to assess existing utility conditions and gather necessary information for each project.
• Coordinate right-of-way acquisition, planning, and design functions through regular project updates to ensure schedule adherence.
• Work a minimum of 40 hours per week, with potential for overtime.
• Perform additional duties as needed or assigned.

Essential Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, structural, mechanical, or civil engineering required for the engineer role.
• 2+ years of experience in engineering, with a preference for electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering.
• Experience with SAP or Smallworld software.
• Design experience with Xcel.
• Knowledge of distribution engineering software tools such as ARMS, JETS, DETS, CYME, and DISTGIS/ArcMap.
• Working knowledge of overhead and underground fiber optic and telecommunication distribution.
• Experience in writing switching orders.
• Ability to write business correspondence and communicate effectively.
• Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and permitting agencies.
• Strong operational planning and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in general computer skills, including email and Microsoft Office.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
