JOB SUMMARY

As a Diesel Fleet Mechanic Technician, your role is to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-efficient fleet vehicles. You will perform essential preventive maintenance inspections and repairs, diagnosing and addressing issues to reduce vehicle downtime and enhance fleet reliability.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Carry out inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment within scheduled time frames to maximize safety and efficiency.
• Conduct FAI/CVI inspections on all fleet vehicles and equipment as per legal and regulatory requirements.
• Perform thorough preventive maintenance inspections and necessary repairs to maintain fleet vehicle safety and reliability.
• Address all Driver Vehicle Inspection Report issues in a timely and efficient manner.
• Diagnose and repair a variety of systems including engines, transmissions, electrical, HVAC, and more per manufacturer specifications.
• Document all work performed accurately on work orders.
• Implement efficiency in Sysco computer programs.
• Complete electrical repairs and welding projects as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• Technical training in Medium/Heavy Duty trucks.
• High school diploma or GED required.

Experience:

• At least 1 year of relevant experience with a technical school background or 3 years of experience in fleet maintenance.
• Must possess a current and valid driver's license.

Certifications:

• Annual Inspector Certification.
• Brake Inspector Certification.
• ASE certifications preferred but not required.
• 609 HVAC Certification.

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS

• Knowledge of computer-based diagnostic software for OEMs and component manufacturers.
• Self-sufficient in providing tools necessary for maintenance and diagnostics (major tools provided by Sysco).
• In-depth understanding of vehicle systems and components.
• Basic welding and cutting skills are valued.
• Moderate knowledge of DOT regulations and OSHA safety regulations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Ability to perform tasks that require sitting, standing, walking, climbing and heavy lifting (up to 100 lbs).

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Occasional exposure to various weather conditions and mechanical parts.
• Flexibility to work non-traditional hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
