SUMMARY

As a Licensed Practical Nurse specializing in Hemodialysis, your expertise and collaborative spirit with Registered Nurses are crucial for delivering outstanding patient care.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As part of your role, you will:

1. Conduct a comprehensive assessment of each patient's medical condition upon admission and throughout their treatment.
2. Assist in implementing patient treatment plans under the guidance of Registered Nurses.
3. Adhere to evaluation, treatment, and documentation protocols specific to the department.
4. Ensure compliance with hospital, regulatory, and professional standards and policies.
5. Maintain your clinical expertise by engaging in continuous education opportunities.
6. Administer IVP medications tailored to the dialysis patient population.
7. Initiate and discontinue dialysis treatments utilizing various access sites, including AV fistulas, AV grafts, and Central Venous Catheters (CVC).
8. Perform CVC site cleaning and dressing changes.
9. Draw blood from CVCs and respond to any line separations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for candidates who possess:

• A degree from an accredited School of Practical Nursing or ASN/BSN in Nursing.
• A current New York State Licensed Practical Nurse license.
• Completion of the NYS Department of Health and DOE approved training curriculum for LPNs in Outpatient Hemodialysis Units (included in unit-based orientation).
• Completion of the approved annual competency for LPNs accessing central lines in a hemodialysis unit (included in unit-based orientation).
• A Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:

BLS - Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association (AHA), LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse from New York State Education Department (NYSED)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Medium Work - This position involves exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and 10 pounds or less of force continuously. The role requires frequent walking, standing, or squatting.

$27.25 - $33.23
