Locums NP/PA - Critical Care (STICU) - Asheville, North Carolina Position Overview:

Start Date: October 1, 2025
Duration: 3 months
Setting: Surgical Trauma ICU (STICU)
Shift Schedule: 12-hour day shifts (6:00 AM - 6:00 PM)
Coverage: 12 hours/day, 365 days/year

Clinical Responsibilities:

Manage critically ill surgical patients in a multidisciplinary ICU setting
Participate in daily rounds and write progress/interim notes
Perform procedures, monitor patient progress, manage complex wounds
Facilitate patient transfers, discharge planning, and education
Expected procedures may include:
Intubation
Bronchoscopy
Chest tube placement
Central and arterial line placement
Laceration repair
Complex wound care

Requirements:

License: Active North Carolina License - Required
DEA: Active North Carolina DEA - Required
Experience: Prior Critical Care experience - Required
Communication: Strong skills for surgical subspecialty team collaboration
EMR: Cerner

Environment:

Multidisciplinary STICU team (trauma, general/vascular/neuro surgery, etc.)
High autonomy role with advanced procedures
Strong focus on collaboration with residents, attendings, RNs, RTs, PTs, case managers, and family members
